Hmm…About me, well…I’m a little bit Town & Country and a little bit Mother Earth News. I am a born and raised Midwesterner, who has lived on the gulf coast of Florida for over 30 years. I love to be out and about seeing friends at charity luncheons and black tie galas, but am also intensely private and need to have lots of alone time. I am exuberantly conservative in my own life and wildly liberal concerning others’ lives.
I am most definitely a dog person with a Westie named Bailey, but also had nine cats for almost 20 years because a pregnant stray appeared on our doorstep one night and I couldn’t turn her, or eventually her kittens, away.
I wouldn’t even think about wearing tennis shoes and jeans out in public and own over 100 pieces of St. John knits, my signature pearls, and various Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, and Ferragamo shoes and handbags, but if I am at home, you will find me in my version of a nightgown and slippers no matter what time of day it is.
I am never bored or lonely as long as I have plenty of books, magazines, notepaper, and pens. In fact, if I don’t have those things around me, I start to get a bit twitchy!
I have sat on more boards (including being president of my Junior League) and chaired more fundraisers than I can count. I love opera and Grand Ole Opry, classical story ballets and cutting edge modern dance, symphonies and 70s music, all kinds of theater, modern and contemporary art, historic homes, planning festive parties, English country decorating, edible landscaping, collecting majolica, monograms, engraved stationery, creating happy memories and traditions for my family, and my beloved Detroit Tigers baseball team.
I think that about covers it. And oh, yes – at my core, I am a writer. I guess that’s why I have this blog!
